replacement windows
baryekadis asked:

I have some windows that have developed condensation in them because of the use of a humidifier in the winter. How can I get rid of this? They are double pane windows. Replacement is not an option as we are in a hi rise condo.

there really is no way to rid yourself of that condensation. it isnt because of using the humidifier.. it is because the seal around the 2 layers of glass is broken. The only way would be to take the window out, take it to a ‘glass installer’ and have them reset a window for you. we have done that with our anderson crank out windows, and it works fine.

the seal was probably broken before you used the humidifier. we have a humidifier as well, but never get condensation between the layers of glass.. just on the inside

We had to break the seal and take out window. luckily we found another window given to us.

Sorry, there isn’t any way to correct this. The only thing you can do is replace the windows.

If the condensation is between the glass, It wont go away. It might not be visible all the time. You have what is called seal failure. Seal failure is when the seal between the two panes of glass developes a leak allowing air tow flow between the glass. This is considered a warranty issue.

If the condensation is on the inside surface of the glass (so you can touch it), the it is typical caused from cold air meeting warm damp air. This usaully mean you have air infiltration from the window. If so remove the interior trim and try to seal the rough opening better.

I am in NW OH and there is a company that repairs them. It’s about $50.00 for a regular window. Use the yellow pages. You may have a company where you are.
