I just did a remodel and replaced all the windows in the house with Anderson windows. No, they do not need storm windows. In order to pass inspection, I had to install tempered glass in the bathroom near the tub. Hope this helps!

I changed all my single pane windows, which had aluminium storm/screen windows on the exterior. I installed low – e thermopane windows at 350$ a crack with no storm windows. I live in Canada just north of Vermont; we’ll see what happens to my heating bill this winter.

hi i live in Wisconsin and put replacement windows in my home 2yrs ago.they are low e came with full screens.they’er great.they installed easy,have saved me on energy bill and no i did not have to add storm windows. i got mine at home depot.measure correctly and you should have no problems,i would recamend them.good luck.

No, you do not need storm windows with the new double pane replacement windows. I replaced my windows on the 2nd story of my home with windows from Home Depot and was disappointed with the ones that I had to special order as they were not completely assembled and it was a pain to finish their job for them. I was going to order the windows for the first floor but as they were all special order, I called World of Windows and Siding and was surprised to find that the windows cost was not much more than Home Depot and their price included removing, installing, clean up and hauling off the old windows. Total price per window was around $300.00 and windows are much better. They are vinyl, Low e, argon filled and double hung. It pays to shop around as I had prices from 300 to 1,000 for the same type of windows. The windows I bought are made by comfort world.
