What are the best updates resale value of a ranch house older in rural upstate New York?
We live in a small town in northern New York state. Oldest community of old houses. There is a large community of season in a nearby lake, with many expensive homes. Our house is 1,952 well-built ranch. It has wide crown molding throughout. Hardwood floors everywhere but the kitchen and bathrooms. Bathrooms redone 2 years ago as superb nice, but no. The floors are in good condition. We recently had the house repainted. The kitchen cabinets are in good condition and not really dated. We two fireplaces, one in the living room and one in the basement. The basement has to be refinished. The back porch or the side was remodeled into a family room w / French Door 20 years ago, has carpeted we will rip and replace w / floating wood floors. Recently we have put new bands in all the old Anderson windows. I would like a cover. We have a great patio. My husband is interested in putting a metal roof on the house the next time it needs one, I am strongly opposed. Any ideas for best updates?
Bathroom and kitchen remodels the greatest "return on investment" items. Metal roofs are great, but do not know if it would "To" selling price. attractive and well maintained inside always looks good.
