REPOINTING around exterior windows?
I wonder about how much to expect this work to cost. I live in Glasgow, Scotland. Around the outside of the windows of my cement is beginning to crumble. I think this is called pointing – is that correct? I have three sash windows in the back and two balconies on the front. About how much should I expect the work to be? No need for scaffolding and other apartments I have seen this work made from the inside. I have no knowledge to do it myself and would rather a professional did a good job that I have made a mess!
The climate in which I suggest you need is sand mastic, is like saying but forms a flexible / repairable seal between the window and work.Normal sandstone / limestone is used to indicate read the size of the hole of the round window, but it is not flexible enough to seal the yellow draughts.Check local stonemasons, is price.Or, ask the neighbors who saw the work carried out on their recommended builders.

Keeping the bad guys or any other intruder is not as simple as installing a security door expensive. Windows offers an alternative to the terrible thief to access your home. Window security enhancements are as important to its security of home and family as any door.
The intruders as windows, for several reasons. First, because they are made of glass that can break easily. Obviously, this gives a wandering thief free home. Also, older windows are very easy to force open, or else the defeat simple latch locks in a typical older windows.
Another factor contributing to thieves joy of windows is the privacy it provides. Many homes have windows that are somewhat obscured by shrubs and bushes. Under cover a robust shrub, an attacker has a lot of time to practice his art.
The security of the windows of the houses may be more robust with only a few simple tips:
Security bars – one of the most ugly and most destructive thing you can do for your home, neighbors and neighborhood, absolutely discourage the thieves trying to enter his house. They also add fuel to the proverbial fire by reducing property values and discouraging honest otherwise good neighbors move into your neighborhood. On the other hand, is the little problem of preventing out in an emergency situation as well.
Laminates and films – these materials applied to glass and serve to improve the overall strength of the glass and remove pieces of glass breaking in the event of accidental breakage. Such films are available in many places that can serve multiple purposes, such as filtered light in summer, and can be cut to fit any size window you have.
These protective films are not only a great deterrent for thieves, but also a reality that provide unobstructed view of nature. Even the movies which offer UV protection only cause negligible reduction in light entering your home. If you have installed new windows, these options are readily available film of most manufacturers.
Which brings us to the subject of locks. Market locks are available to fit any window type or design available. They are usually very affordable, do not affect the view and greatly enhance the security of your homes windows.
Lets face it, your home is as safe as the point entry easier for an intruder. Even the most minor incidents of intrusion into their family is in danger. For just a few dollars, can avoid regret before they happen.

Are we better player to renew our existing sash windows or double glazing?
Our large, sash windows are available round rot glass, loose, and needed something done to them for years as the humidity has to enter them. (We only recently got the house) are stripped and polished wooden frames. We know nothing about this sort of thing at all, but it seems we need to decide whether to renew existing windows with a company like Ventrolla, or replace the entire lot with double glazing. Our apartment is on a busy main road, so the noise is a consideration for us. The windows are large yes, and there are 15 in total. Will it be a big price difference if we choose one method over another? Thanks
Depends … are you thinking of the resale or not. I would go for the double glazing to reduce noise and considerations of cost. I am a carpenter and carpenter can tell you that to replace and repair wooden sash windows with like for like is about twice the cost of plastic and glass embedded. 15 large double-hung windows have a cost wood window or more. Get a quote from a wood carpentry company near you, will come out and see them in situ. Also get a plastic window company to trading. Discuss your needs with the carpenter, he will be honest about the costs and can advise you about the weather. The plastic windows are more ready faster, easier to install and maintain and reduce traffic noise, but there are more points to wooden windows and can be double glass sheets wood.or secondary glazing. While the property is not listed, you can install plastic windows. You may have the effect of wood grain and basic colors today too.
